The statement given by Vice Prime Minister Vladimir Pesevski about stopping the strictness of the authority in regard to the firms is a sort of an amnesty for the economy from exaggerated fines imposed by various institutions, mainly inspections. What the opposition and the media have been demanding for so long has finally happened. The firms, maltreated by the world crisis, were faced with the enormous state budget that has been delivered to them to feed. Furthermore, the firms were overburdened because of the mechanism of gross salaries, which started operating without a preparation or some other tax "narcosis". This turned out to be too heavy a burden for one fifth of the legal entities in the country. In the course of the year, especially towards its end, their managers clearly hoisted their surrender white flags due to the incapability to accomplish their duties towards the employed, the state, or the partners in the business. At the beginning of this year we mentioned the public demand for "pardon" by Vice Prime Minister Pesevski, who evinced that in the squared palace on Ilindenska St. (Government HQS, trans. rem.) they finally understood that the way things started to move they would be left without calculations for financing the current consumption and the ambitiously announced and mainly unaccomplished projects from the Revival. The city Mayor Koce Trajanovski reacted in a similar way and blocked 17,000 firms with about 25,000 employees in January for uncovered dues for their signboards, and then, after three weeks of "strict attitude", he softened and de-blocked the economic subjects that must be operating first of all for feeding his own machinery.
